800 x 400 Featured Header Canvas

We’re almost at the official kick off of the Moms Know Moms series that begins this Tuesday, October 1st, and let me tell you. You are IN FOR A TREAT!!!

We have 26 fantastic and incredibly gifted moms who will be featured throughout the entire month of October. They’ll be giving you an honest and transparent look behind these less than penetrable blog walls. They’ve inspired me on so many levels with their wise words, and I’m pretty sure they’ll inspire you too. I can’t wait to introduce them all to you on this Monday.

We’ll also have some really nice giveaways planned, perfectly suited for the super busy, crafty mom. I’ll be talking more about our sponsors in the coming weeks, but I wanted to let each of you know up front that I hand picked each sponsor for this series. They are all strong supporters of the handmade community, and I’ve come to know many of them on a personal level and respect them tremendously. I’ve spoken to the owners/ or representatives directly and shared the vision of this series. I expressed the importance of providing prizes that would resonate specifically with our mom readers. I’m happy to say, they met the challenge and far exceeded my expectations. I won’t share the prizes just yet, but here’s a look at our sponsors for this year.

800 x 400 Featured Header CanvasPrizes will include everything from patterns to books to cosmetics and other goodies in between.Yay sponsors!

Here’s a quick overview of what to expect throughout the coming month.

This series is ALL ABOUT YOU! I had a talk with my husband recently about how moms need a “safety zone”, a space where we can just be ourselves and share the highs and lows of what we do every day without feeling like we have to put on a “perfect face” for the masses — a place where we are not judged for our shortcomings but where we’re encouraged to thrive despite our challenges.

My closest mom friends are spread out all over the country. Some are women I’ve known since early childhood and some I only met in recent years as a blogger, but what I’ve come to appreciate is that no matter what I’m experiencing, I can usually find someone who’s already been through it and can help me navigate the tough terrain.

Each week will be filled with guest interviews and a giveaway. The interviews are simply a spring board to a deeper discussion. The Moms Know Moms series is about sharing. That’s all. Pretty simple, huh? And, hopefully, within the context of these awesome interviews and/or comments, you’ll find a piece of yourself, a common ground, something that speaks specifically to you and where you’re standing.

I encourage you to “talk it out” throughout  this series. The comment section will remain open, and I hope that you will lend your voice to this very important project. As moms, we’re all in this together. You never know if your story is just the thing that another reader needs to hear. Invite all of your mom friends too. The more the merrier!

More info to come!

Elegance & Elephants

Happy Tuesday everyone!

It’s Knock Off time again! Heidi over at Elegance and Elephants is hosting a spring Knock It Off series that’s going to be so much fun. Just like the last series, there will be a  Flickr Group for you to showcase your amazing talent as well as tons of awesome creations by some of my (and your)  favorite sewing bloggers. I’m excited to be participating again, too.

Here’s what I did in the last  Knock It Off series:

Knock It Off Theirs Mine

I’m really excited about this season’s knock off. I hope you will join me and share your amazing talent.

The fun begins this May and runs the entire month.

Keep doin’ what you love!

Hi All,

I just wanted to make a quick announcement today to let you all know about the Knock It Off Series that a good bloggy friend of mine (Heidi from Elegance and Elephants) will be hosting in the month of November. Heidi just won second place in this season’s Project Run & Play, so believe me when I say that her Knock It Off series is sure to be AMAZING!

Here’s a a piece of her description:

Have you ever seen an awesome shirt, dress, pants, etc in a store or online for the little one(s) you sew for, and wished you could figure out how to make it yourself?  Save some money and make it your own?  Or maybe it’s something one of your favourite fashion icon (or their kid) has worn?  Well, all next month, an amazingly talented line up of designer moms are going to do just that: knock off a look, garment, or accessory, and show how they did it!  How cool is that?!  All childrenswear…all knock offs…all November!

She’s also created a Flickr group for everyone to join. (I Loovvveeeee it!)

I’m super thrilled to be one of the featured designers in the series along with an amazing group of talented designers that I’ve admired from afar:
