Where are you sitting on your Happy Meter today?
Know Your Worth!
I write from the perspective of a woman, wife and mother who has probably run the entire gamut of emotions when it comes to how I process the “day to day” that is my life. I’ve felt everything from fear, frustration, and insecurity all the way to heart swelling elation as I’ve faced the unknown, grappled with circumstances, dodged self-perception, and embraced my life without regret. Besides my faith, I believe that remaining true to myself has been the single thread of constancy that has helped me effectively navigate the uncertainties that come along with the territory.
I’m one of those “glass is half full, dive in feet first and just wait for the dust to settle” kind of people. I have a strong tendency to follow my heart before my head, and while I believe that patience is a virtue, my mind usually jumps over to the next thing before I’ve allowed patience the opportunity to run its course. I’m not fond of pity parties, negativity, or mean people because life is too short to grant other people or things the keys to my happiness. I believe that it’s always better to compete against yourself rather than another, because it is then that you have a true gauge of where you stand; and I don’t put too much stock into the surface of other people’s lives because snapshots aren’t good for anything but scrapbooks.
When I am mindful of those unique attributes that make me who I am, then I make better choices, have fewer regrets, and enjoy a fuller life. This is not to say that what I choose is always right, but what it does say is that my choices are a reflection of me, without compromise. If I err, then I do so on the side of being true to myself and try to learn from my mistakes and move on.
Remember that you have great value. Never allow anyone, anything, or any circumstance to tell you differently. Who you are is priceless and your uniqueness makes this life interesting. Determine in your heart today that you will recognize and honor your worth.
Have a great week!
