This weekend while preparing for the Project Run & Play competition, it occurred to me that I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing. Ha! Ha! (nervous laugh) I mean seriously. Six outfits in six weeks? You’d probably laugh too if saw my sewing room and then me running around my house sewing on buttons, drafting patterns and fighting with my seam ripper (again) while I try to cook, play the “how many more days before Christmas now, Mommy?” game with my five-year old (yes, he’s ready for next Christmas already) and trying unsuccessfully to get our dog to stop barking at our neighbors. It’s hilarious. No. Not really. But, it would probably win 2nd place on one of those “funniest home video” shows.
But isn’t that what life is all about? The living part I mean. I think that’s what I miss most about my childhood — that carefree attitude of just doing something because it’s there or it’s fun, or both. No expectations. No rewards. Just the experience. I love that life is exactly what we make of it and that if we allow ourselves the flexibility, we can do absolutely anything that we set our minds too. I don’t know about you, but for me, somewhere between carefree and responsibility, I forgot how to just live and let that be enough.
Everyday we’re each given an opportunity to add our unique foot print to the world around us. Whether it’s with our kids as we snuggle up next to them to read a bedtime story in our best mama pig impression (yep, just did that ) or with a complete stranger as we exchange random childhood memories in the cereal isle of our local grocery store (haven’t done that one, but would), it’s all about the experience, the tapestry of memories that we create as we move through life. The way I see it, it’s all about perspective. Life is always moving. Why get overwhelmed? We can either move with the tide or against it.
So, now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to grab a piece of banana bread and try not to over think my life. 🙂
Enjoy your week!
Keep doin’ what you love,
