Happy Monday Everyone! So, on a scale of 1-10, where are you sitting on your Happy Meter today?
What is a Happy Meter? You ask.
Well, let me explain . . .
I’m a very busy mom (aren’t we all?), and between running a business and managing a large family, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of responsibility, and I’m not alone. Many of my good friends have stepped into the Super Mom role and understandably find themselves struggling with feeling Not-So-Super on occasion. Unfortunately, the world (and our responsibilities) don’t stop just because we’re having an “off” day, so for me, finding balance is crucial. At the start of the a week, I evaluate how I’m feeling on a scale of 1-10 (10= Fantastic, 1=Pull the cover over my head and start over tomorrow). Based on where I’m sitting on the scale gives me a good idea of how my week is gonna go. If I’m low on the scale, I know I need to find ways to step it up a notch so that I can don my Super Mom cape and leap over some tall buildings with a single bound ! It may take an extra 30 minutes in bed, a brisk walk around the neighborhood, a few rounds on the punching bag or even a quick retreat to a quiet secluded place (you’d be amazed at what a locked bathroom door and counting to 100 can do for a recharge).
This all may sound a bit corny, but it works. Not only do I get a handle on prepping myself for the challenges of the week , but it also reminds me to check in on my friends and encourage them if they find themselves a little low on the scale.
I’m sitting around a 7 or 8 today. I have some massive work challenges coming up this week, but I’m feeling fairly optimistic!
