MOM Views & Reviews

Happy Day Everyone!

I’ve shared with you all many times how crazy busy things can get around our house, and now with a new baby, WATCH OUT! Ha! Ha!  With 7 kids, I’m always on the look out for products and services that will make my life (and that of my family) a little easier, or at least more manageable. This year I decided to start a new segment on my site called MOM Views & Reviews. I figured if I’m going to review all of these things on my own anyway (yep, I’m one of those picky mamas 🙂 ), why not share my views and hopefully help you make some informative choices as well. And, since my kids ages span from infant to teenager, there should be a lot of variety.

Some of the products that I’ll review are from companies who have contacted me personally. Others are from companies that I contact directly because I want to know more about their product. Either way, these are products that I WANT to review, and I will always give you my honest opinion.

This week I’d like to introduce an app company called Apparoo. I’m pretty sure there are thousands of apps out there for kids, and there’s no way I have the time to sift through them all.  Apparoo helps take some of the guess work out of selecting apps for our kids by locating the “mom friendly” ones and sharing them (usually for free or at a steep discount).

Apparoo’s “App of the Week” is  Rio Read and Play (The official app for the Movie).
Here’s the description:

Shake your tail feathers and join blue macaws Blu and Jewel for a colorful read-along adventure set in Rio de Janeiro. This delightful app, featuring characters from the popular animated film Rio, will appeal to fans of the film and newcomers alike. The narrated storybook will encourage your child’s reading skills, the coloring tools will foster their artistic talent – and the bonus activities will grant you peace and quiet over at least two extra states on your next cross-country flight. A feast for the senses, this bright, fun-filled app is like a tiny little Brazilian vacation on your iPad!

My Views: This is a great app for Pre-K through 3. My older kids like to play around with Rescue Jewel but overall I think this app would be better suited to the younger ones. The game looks great visually and is easy to play. I especially love the narrated story for my new readers. The description above mentions using your Ipad, but I have it on my Iphone and it looks great. As far as apps go, for me this one is a keeper.

So, today and tomorrow this app is being offered as a free download (Did you hear me? FREE!!!!!) on Itunes, so shake a tail feather and hop on over there for your new app by following this link HERE.
