Who says today has to look just like yesterday?
One of the most amazing things about life (to me) is that it’s cyclical. Night turns into day and then back again. Spring always precedes summer, fall and winter. Plant a seed, something grows, produces more seeds and the circle of life begins again.
What’s even more interesting to me though, is that the minutia of life—those teeny tiny things that when stacked on top of each other, equal our circumstances—is ever changing. Life is constantly moving, even when it feels like we’re not.
This is something that I have to remind myself of almost daily when the “routine” monster of daily repetition begins to take over. While I like the security of knowing that after a long cold winter, I can ditch the longs sleeves and pull out my sandals, I’m not a big fan of cycles in my personal life when they squeeze out spontaneity and limit my personal growth.
If you’re on any kind of cyclical routine: Wake up, get the kids ready for their day, work, get the kids ready for their night, go to bed and then start all over again (and don’t forget the hubby), it’s easy to feel like you’re on a hamster wheel running like crazy, but standing still. You’re mentally and physically exhausted, and if you do manage to grab a nap or two, it’s usually at the expense of something on your growing “to do” list.
I get it. I absolutely feel like that sometimes. Responsibilities are tough, especially when others are depending on you to show up and make things happen.
Today I’m sharing a mini video snapshot of my busy life. Never let your circumstances define you. Even when things look the same, they are changing.
