I spent about 3 or 4 years collecting vintage patterns. I especially love the tailored looks of the 40s for little boys and the cinched waists and full skirts for little girls in the 50s. I’ve mentioned before that I’m not a big pattern person, but that didn’t keep me from buying a bunch of vintage ones for inspiration. Over the last year or so, I’ve been reducing my pattern stash by selling them on Ebay and/or giving them away. Imagine my surprise when I opened up a vintage pattern this morning, and this very old Sears, Roebuck and Co. catalog page fell out. I love these little suits for boys! And can you believe $3.89 for the jacket, pant, “artificial” leather belt (Ha!Ha!), and cotton shirt? Crazy, right?
I remembered my dad talking about the Sears and Roebuck catalogs from his childhood, so I called him to see if he could date this one. Without seeing it, he guessed that it was from around the 40s based on the prices (and illustrations), but who knows? I’m just loving the piece of history that fell into my lap today.
Keep doin’ what you love!
