Favorite Things: Boy Style

If you’re a mom of boys (or not), I’m sure you’ll agree that finding unique and flattering boy clothing that doesn’t look like cookie cutter remakes or the “go to” jeans and a t-shirt can be difficult. It’s super simple to find variety in the girl’s aisles. Slap on a couple of ruffles, bows, a flower, or some beading, and you can create a whole wardrobe out of a plain white dress. It’s not so simple with boys. Designers are limited to the type and placement of design elements on boy’s clothing (if they’re steering clear of “girly”). The good ones (designers) allow fabric, shape, and texture to become their main creative palette and focus.

Let me be honest. I’m a big supporter of the handmade community, but when a designer (or anyone for that matter) is doing something right, they deserve recognition. The pictures below are all from Fore! Axel and Hudson. I’m going to keep my eye on this group. So inspiring :).

I was introduced to this brand via Heidi (Elegance and Elephance). Thanks Heidi!

I dare you to try to resist the adorableness of this collection.

Keep doin’ what you love!

found your blog today on Elegance and Elephants. I don’t know why, but this week I’ve been thinking a lot about boys clothes and how to get inspired to do something unique when boys clothes are pants, shorts and shirts. No frilly dresses that you can do anything with! Glad to find ya!

Hi Louise! So glad you found my blog. I’ve also been challenged by the lack of options for boy clothing. I’m sure that’s why I sew more for my girls than my boys. I love stumbling upon companies like Fore! Axel & Hudson because it stretches me to think “outside the box” when it comes to design.

Thanks for visiting. Stop by anytime!
