Announcement 2 & a FREE PATTERN

Hi All!

So, my second announcement is that I’ve started my own PDF pattern  line. Well, it’s not exactly a line, yet, but I’m getting there. 🙂

Beginning this May, I will offer a monthly newsletter to LKG subscribers. The newsletter is free, of course. It’s a way for me to share my new pattern releases and special discounts with my readers first before they are released to the public. I’ll also be offering free e-patterns with my newsletter that I will not be offering on my blog. I’ll continue to add to my tutorial page on the site, but FREE patterns will be for newsletter subscribers only. You guys are such a special group. It’s only fitting that I give you the inside scoop for hangin’ out with me.

So, here’s where I’ll need your help. I will offer a free pattern with next months newsletter. Remember this hat from Project Run & Play?

PR&P ss Collage 4

I’ve drafted the pattern in sizes Small-Medium-Large, but before I add it as a download for the newsletter next month, I need for some of you lovely, talented sewers to check it out for me. It fits YOUTH HEAD SIZES 20″-22″.Layla Pattern Cover

This hat sews up fairly quickly (less than an hour probably). I’m looking for all experience levels, including beginner. This will give me an idea of  what skill level to assign the  pattern.

I will need your pattern results by next Tuesday, May 7th. If you are interested,  just leave a comment below. Include your skill level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) and the size you’d like to make. (PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL, so I can send the pattern to you) You may also email me if you’d prefer at

I need a limited number of pattern testers in each size. If I am unable to use you for this pattern, I will be more than happy to add you to my pattern tester list for future reference.

(Pattern tester instructions will be included with the PDF download)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

  • Me! Me! My 10yo daughter likes the style so I have permission.

I would say I intermediate because polo plackets made me cry two weeks ago, but I put in four flat front zippers last week, so happy happy joy joy.

  • Emma Barnstable Nathanson says:

I am between a beginner and an intermediate. I have been sewing for a while – lots of kids clothes, doll clothes, waldorf dolls and a couple of easier quilts. But there are plenty of things I haven’t tried yet! I would need to test the small size if you need me.

  • Tamika says:

You have some great things going on Shannon! I’m all in if you could use me. Beginner here. Any size would be o.k.

  • Alyce Rodriguez says:

I have never pattern tested before, but I would be willing to try. I am a beginner, having sewn a very limited number of clothing items and never for children. I guess I would need to test a medium (my daughter’s head measures 20.5″). wonderlandbyalyce at gmail dot com

I’m so excited about your line! Where do I sign up for the newsletter? I’ll pin, post, plus and like your stuff all over. I found your blog during the PR&p series, & I love everything you did!! I’m scared of hats, I tried to make a pirate hat once and got so mad at myself- my ego still hurts! If you need help with any non hats, call me anytime!

  • Olga Becker says:

Great! If I follow you on Facebook, doesn’t mean I will get the newsletter? Or do I need to subscribe some other way!

    • Shannon_CC says:

Hi Olga! I will have a sign up for the newsletter next week. I’ll announce it on this site, Facebook, and Twitter when it’s ready. If you are already subscribed by email, you’ll receive the newsletter automatically, unless you opt out. (Thanks Olga!)

  • Shannon_CC says:

Thank you to everyone who signed up by comment or email to test the Layla Beret Pattern. I’m closing the testing for this pattern, but if you are interested in testing future patterns, please send me an email at: littlekidsgrow (at) gmail (dot) com
