Little Kids Grow is all about living life to its fullest. Whether you’re a mom of 1 or 10, juggling a family, career, and “just life” can seem like a constant “uphill climb”. I know. I’ve been there. I’ve battled lots of insecurities and sometimes wondered if I’d ever get it right. Little Kids Grow (LKG) is a place where I focus on the positive. I believe that motherhood is an awesome gift that can sometimes be hard to navigate. It’s always nice to find others who can not only relate to our struggles but encourage us to believe in ourselves and keep pushing forward.
At LKG you’ll not only find motivation for your day, but I’ll also work hard to bring you awesome interviews with “mompreneurs”, tips and hints to make your days a little bit easier (Sign up for the Moms Know Moms Facebook Group HERE.), and for the sewing enthusiasts, lots of design inspiration.
WHO AM I?
My name is Shannon (Nice to meet you!). I’m a mom of 7 and wife to Mr. Hubby. Over the last 20 years I’ve worked in two of my favorite fields: book publishing and fashion. But, it wasn’t until I began to work from home that I had the flexibility to explore both simultaneously. I currently balance 3 careers: family manager, marketing consultant, and pattern designer. It’s been through the lens of these 3 areas that I’ve learned the most about myself.
Family manager – Managing a home is not an easy task. Add kids, a husband (and a dog) and things can get a little sticky. The greatest lesson I’ve learned over the years as our family has grown is that flexibility, patience and faith go a long way and not expecting perfection from ourselves (or anyone else) can make the road ahead a lot easier to navigate.
Marketing Consultant – Before working as a publishing consultant, I ran a small book publishing company. Working in the publishing field has taught me that everyone has a story and you don’t have to be famous to impact another person’s life. This is one of the reasons why I started the Moms Know Moms series. I’ve heard from so many moms who are struggling to find themselves in their role as a parent. It can be tough not to lose yourself. I’ve found sharing our stories to be a great way for us to relate to one another and hopefully encourage each other in the process.
Pattern Designer – Designing has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. As a child, whenever my mom came home from the grocery store, I’d take the brown paper grocery bags and sketch out my designs. I’d then color, cut them out and tape them on (Who needs a sewing machine?). I’d then parade around the house like it was Fashion Week. I’m grateful for parents who encouraged me to follow my passions. It’s been a long time since my brown paper bag days, but every time I sit down to my sketch pad, I’m reminded that a true passion follows you throughout life. It’s only been in recent years that I’ve been able to reintroduce myself to one of my first loves. I’m proof that you’re never too old to follow your dreams.
Everything that I do and all that I am is filtered through my faith. I am a Christian. I love GOD. I love JESUS. I love people. ENGAGE . . . BEAUTIFY . . . SOAR. I believe this is what we were all created to do!
